Things to do from the Brickell corporate housing area:
Brickell corporate housing and the Olympia Theater at Gusman Center
Olympia Theater first opened in February 1926 as a silent movie palace and amazed the public with its
stunning Moorish architecture, perfect acoustics and simulated night sky - complete with rolling clouds
and twinkling stars. The theater achieved notoriety as the first air-conditioned building in the South.
The Olympia Theater at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts owes its distinctive character to architect
John Eberson, the master of "atmospheric" theater design and it is one of the few Eberson buildings still
standing. Philanthropist Maurice Gusman saved the theater from demolition and donated it to the City of
Miami in 1975. After extensive renovation, overseen in part by famed architect Morris Lapidus, the Olympia
Theater at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts is currently listed on the National Register of Historic
Places. Cultural icons such as Elvis Presley, Sarah Vaughan and Luciano Pavarotti have provided memorable
evenings under the Gusman stars. Today, Maximum Dance Company, Florida Philharmonic and the Miami
International Film Festival call the theater their home.

Brickell corporate housing and the Trapeze Experience
Jan. 7, 2005 - Miami, FL...There is a new resident at Bayfront Park, in downtown Miami. Located in the
center of the (32-acre) park,Trapeze-Experience has decided to call Miami home for the winter. Yes, a
bona-fide, regulation size, safety insured trapeze.
Flying through the air with the greatest of ease describes this company as they make it look easy and
according to them it is! Teaching all ages from 6 years and up, they offer classes for the beginners where
all participants are guided at their own pace, personally assisted by a qualified Trapeze-Experience
instructor. Participants are first given a "ground lesson" and a "warm up," then they are ready for
flight. Strapped in a harness with a double-belay (an attachment on both sides of the harness) and a net
below them (running the entire length of the trapeze), a person is ready to swing. As the confidence
builds, a beginner can even try a transfer in mid-air where another instructor catches you.
