Beach Vacation Overview: SoBe and its community is a fantasy land with unique architecture, a 24/7 chic night life and stunning shoreline. SoBe occupies less than two square miles on the south tip of Miami Beach, but nothing compares! Known as the American Riviera, South Beach is where films, music videos and television shows are often shot. Like a dry martini, South Beach draws celebrities, trendy youth and young-at-heart types with cash to burn. Wet T-shirts are rare, so it's great for couples on spring break, offering refined relaxation and chic parties rather than the raw decadence of Panama City or Daytona Beach.
Beach Vacation Accommodations: SoBe pricy Art Deco hotels and rental apartments are comfortable and unique.
Beach Fees: south area parking is not free.
Local Activities: Gay and lesbian south beaches, swimming, lounge - drink in hand.
Major Area Attractions: The Art Deco Historic District has the largest collection of 1920's and 1930s architecture in the world. Take a walking tour with the Art Deco District Welcome Center or explore on your own. Also - world-class dining, arts and culture attractions, like the Jackie Gleason Theater and the Lincoln Theater. SoBe is home to the New World Symphony, designer-brand shopping and a nightlife that never sleeps. Try the Miami Chamber of Commerce for detailed event listings.
