Miami vacation rentals go from airboat rides to Metro Zoo
Miccosukee Indian Village and Airboat Rides
Just 30 minutes West of Miami, experience how the Miccosukee Indian Tribe existed and still exists in 'The Heart of the Florida Everglades.' We are located approximately 25 miles west of the Florida Turnpike exit 25 on US Hwy. 41 (aka Tamiami Trail & SW 8th Street).
Miami Metrozoo - Its Past & Its Future
The Metrozoo's beginning can be traced back to a small island off the coast. The Crandon Park Zoo, located on Key Biscayne, was created in 1948 when three monkeys, one goat and two black bears were purchased for $270 from a small road show stranded near downtown.
The animal collection grew to around 1,200 animals, resulting in the Crandon Park Zoo being ranked among the top 25 zoos in the United States. The zoo received worldwide recognition for the first successful captive birth and rearing of an aardvark in 1967.
Monkey Jungle
Located just off U.S. 1 in South Dade, MONKEY JUNGLE was an innovator of many of the concepts currently seen in the design of zoological parks. It is home to nearly 400 primates, most running free on a 30 acre reserve. It is one of the few protected habitats for endangered primates in the area and United States and the only one that the general public can explore.
